Woman reading on the beach.

It’s never too late to read a classic story! As I did in the spring with Literary Fiction, I’m sharing my list of Classic novels to which I've given five stars on Amazon, Goodreads, and Bookbub.

I read a lot of contemporary fiction, which can be exciting and enlightening, but it’s also sometimes dicey. Author sensibilities are so different in contemporary fiction. Sometimes that’s a good thing. But for the most part you can be sure a classic novel will never make you cringe--even though I have spent many evenings engrossed by the situations that develop and the choices made by an Austen heroine, a Dickens villain, or a Wodehouse doofus.

C.S. Lewis, Hurston, Shakespeare, Twain, Wilde—so many creative geniuses are still able to make readers cry, shudder, yearn, and laugh. The stories are classic because they address the human condition, so we can always relate, regardless of living in modern times.

If you’re looking for a read that has stood the test of time, look no further! If you go to My 5-Star Classic Novel Recommendations, and click on any cover shown, you’ll be able to see the book’s storyline, as well as reviews left over a long period of time.

Here’s to happy reading!
