Here's a cool story for you. There's not a single one of us who doesn't have something about his or her life that induces fear, worry, or discouragement. What comes to mind for you right now? Hold that thought.
"Jimmy," one of my family members, is typically upbeat but carries his own share of troubles. He was driving his truck in L.A. traffic the other day, radio blasting. Country artist Dave Fenley started singing his bittersweet ballad, "Joshua 1:9," over the speakers, and Jimmy sensed maybe he was meant to look into that verse. Traffic started to move, and Jimmy realized the car in front of him bore a license plate that read JOSHUA 1:9.
Later that day Jimmy was talking on the phone with his therapist and he shared that story with her. After a brief moment of amazed silence, she cemented the importance of this "coincidence."
"That's the verse I have tattooed on my arm," she said.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)
Let's start off our New Year believing He's with us wherever we go. He wants us to remember He loves us, to be strong and courageous and unafraid. Have a blessed, brave 2024.
